Biking to Work Works Again
Due to some work related monkey business, I found a very convenient excuse not to bike to work for the last 2 months. Yes, indeed. Fortunately, that excuse has acquired a mode of transport thereby releasing me of my workly obligations. Hurray! So what does that mean? It means I can restart biking to work. Which, after 2 months, is more accurately just start biking to work.
It is a lot colder than it was a few months ago. It will probably rain. But that's ok. Just so that I'm not completely restarting from scratch, I'm going to learn from my previous experiences and make my work biking a lot better.
Back on track to Biking Across the US 2012!
Here's my gear list:
- Custom Trek Bontrager Road Bike - Built by and acquired from my friend Kennon
- It's got a lot of different components on it, details of which will be in another post
- Giro G151X Helmet
- Osprey Talon 22
- Krytonite U-Lock
- Last lock's lock (a MasterLock I've had for 4 years) broke while securing my bike in Richmond, somehow managed to get it off and just finally bought another one
- Black Diamond Storm 100 Lumen Headlamp
- It gets dark well before I get off work
- Planet Bike Spok Front and Rear light set
- Because this bike has no reflectors
Yes I know a good amount of this stuff is overkill... for example the ultra light wheels. But it's not overkill when you get a fantastic deal. And in this case, thank you Kennon for parting ways with and selling me this wonderful bike (the funds with which he subsequently used to buy a motorcycle, much to the chagrin of his wife).
